DECOMPOSITION THEOREM AND APPLICATIONS RAMI GROSSBERG AND OLIVIER LESSMANN Abstract. In this paper, we prove a decomposition theorem for abstract elementary classes K with the amalgamation property, under the assumption that certain axioms regarding independence, existence of some prime models, and regular types are satisfied. This context encompasses the following: (1) K is the class of models of an א0-stable first order theory. (2) K is the class of Faא0 -saturated models of a superstable first order theory. (3) K is the class of models of an excellent Scott sentence ψ ∈ Lω1,ω. (4) K the class of locally saturated models of a superstable good diagram D. (5) K is the class of (D,א0)-homogeneous models of a totally transcendental good diagram D. We also prove the nonstructure part necessary to obtain a Main Gap theorem for (5), which appears in the second author’s Ph.D. thesis [Le]. The main gap in the contexts (1) and (2) are theorems of Shelah [Sh a]; (3) is by Grossberg and Hart [GrHa]; (4) by Hyttinen and Shelah [HySh2]. Profiles of separations: in graphs, matroids, and beyond

We show that all the tangles in a finite graph or matroid can be distinguished by a single tree-decomposition that is invariant under the automorphisms of the graph or matroid. This comes as a corollary of a similar decomposition theorem for more general combinatorial structures, which has further applications. These include a new approach to cluster analysis and image segmentation. As another ...

Fan-KKM Theorem in Minimal Vector Spaces and its Applications

In this paper, after reviewing some results in minimal space, some new results in this setting are given. We prove a generalized form of the Fan-KKM typetheorem in minimal vector spaces. As some applications, the open type of matching theorem and generalized form of the classical KKM theorem in minimal vector spaces are given.

Simultaneous generalizations of known fixed point theorems for a Meir-Keeler type condition with applications

In this paper, we first establish a new fixed point theorem for a Meir-Keeler type condition. As an application, we derive a simultaneous generalization of Banach contraction principle, Kannan's fixed point theorem, Chatterjea's fixed point theorem and other fixed point theorems. Some new fixed point theorems are also obtained.

Sum Formula for Maximal Abstract Monotonicity and Abstract Rockafellar’s Surjectivity Theorem

In this paper, we present an example in which the sum of two maximal abstract monotone operators is maximal. Also, we shall show that the necessary condition for Rockafellar’s surjectivity which was obtained in ([19], Theorem 4.3) can be sufficient.

On intermediate value theorem in ordered Banach spaces for noncompact and discontinuous mappings

In this paper, a vector version of the intermediate value theorem is established. The main theorem of this article can be considered as an improvement of the main results have been appeared in [textit{On fixed point theorems for monotone increasing vector valued mappings via scalarizing}, Positivity, 19 (2) (2015) 333-340] with containing the uniqueness, convergent of each iteration to the fixe...
